Test Objective

Active Listening is one of the key skills for effective leaders. People who are unable to or unwilling to listen effectively to others will eventually lose credibility as managers and leaders. They will also find it difficult to comprehend the finer nuances of what is being discussed, thereby limiting their ability to effectively contribute. Most people are unaware of their listening barriers (things that prevent them from being effective listeners) and hence are unable to work on the same.

The PACE Active Listening Skills instrument helps you recognize your listening barriers and identify the ones that need immediate attention.

It is recommended that you focus on the biggest barriers first. The biggest barriers are the ones with a score of 6 or less.

Test Description

The PACE Active Listening Skills instrument comprises nine questions. Each question provides five options that the test-taker can choose from. The test features nine listening barriers that could potentially impact a person’s listening effectiveness.

Based on your responses, you will get a score for each listening barrier. The barrier with the lowest score is the one which requires greatest attention from your end.

You will also get a cumulative score which will tell you where you fall on the spectrum of listening effectiveness.
